Well here it is, my first pattern and instructions! I’m quite excited! I loved writing it and I really hope you’ll have a go and will enjoy making it too.
This 18″ cushion is the perfect introduction to the English Paper Piecing method of sewing patchwork as it’s a small enough project to see if it’s ‘your thing’ before going head-long into the daunting (and time consuming!) task of making a full-on hand sewn bed quilt.
Setting the juicy colours on a black background gives this pillow a wonderful zing – I love it and can’t stop looking at it! Check out my tips for choosing hot fabrics on page 1. The pattern also includes the right size hexagon patterns to print off (no enlarging required, unless you want to make the cushion a different size).
The following images are for reference as you read the pattern, though if you’re an experienced seamstress (you are female right?!) you may not need them. There are also diagrams in the written instructions and links to tutorials. If you have any worries at all as you make the pillow, please leave a comment below or drop me a line via the ‘hello’ page and I’ll get back to you asap! And don’t forget to leave a link to your finished project, I’d love to see how you get on
Have fun and happy sewing!
