Free Pattern: Star Mug Rug

Mug rug pattern number two!

I’m so excited that the free patterns I’ve begun posting to my Craftsy page seem to be going well: with well over 600 downloads of my Grandma’s Hothouse Pillow and over 100 of the first Hexie Mug Rug pattern in this new series I think it’s time to crack on and share some more for you to enjoy!  So, finally (after some wrestling with a digital drawing programme!) here’s the Star Mug Rug for you to make.

It would look fab as a set of four, maybe with different fabrics for the stars, or perhaps you could combine a set with the Hexie Mug Rug pattern already available; whatever you decide it’s a great little project for busting some scraps and a perfect introduction to making patchwork using the English paper piecing method (often just shortened to EPP) for beginners.

It’s quick to make and you could easily have a few sets whipped up ready to give as gifts for Christmas, so why not see if you got some festive fabrics in your scrap box and give it a go?!
